Anna Cole, a Melbourne-based artist, claims that she has always been creative and has never desired to be limited to a 9–5 job. She started painting five years ago in her studio which had been converted from a garage, and since then, she has made a name for herself in the art world with her vivid, vibrant style. Anna enjoys experimenting with shapes and patterns using lines and accuracy, and she finds inspiration in the environment and commonplace items.
I used to paint pretty simply, using only a few colors, but now that I’m more at ease and secure in my painting approach, I’m gradually adding more color, depth, and shapes to my pieces. My creative approach is very straightforward; because I have the propensity to overthink my work, I usually draw out a design and some shapes that I think would work before deciding on a color scheme.
I used to paint mock-ups on pieces of canvas and board, but as my workload increased, I switched to using Illustrator because it made choosing colours and designing designs faster, confessed Anna Cole.
She starts by searching Pinterest and Instagram for stunning colour schemes. “I also LOVE the colour pink, so I know I have one colour figured out for every piece!” After selecting her colours, she mutes them to ensure that the palette is uniform. Despite what her family claims, she possesses the most colourful and imaginative mind. Without a doubt, she has been one of the most iconic artists from Melbourne!
