While building an office space it is important to utilize and control the amount of sunlight that reaches the workers. If we are to answer if blinds are better than curtains in offices, then it is true. Blinds are very popular when we talk about solar shading for the workplace. If we compare blinds to curtains, several clear-cut advantages can be stated in both the long-term and short-term. Let us look at some of these;
Less material and time are required to manufacture blinds. It also takes less time to install them, a pro person can install them within 10 to 20 minutes. Plastic blinds will lower the overall cost because cheaper material is used in their manufacture. However, curtains are comparatively costly. This is because the material used is expensive and the time taken to make and install them is a lot more than that of the blinds.
Blinds are known for offering more light control options. When the slats on blinds are either situated vertically or horizontally, they can be operated in such a manner that they will control the light entering the work area. The slats can also be rotated to change the angle at which this light enters. However, curtains will fully block the light or allow all of it to enter.
Dusting the blinds is easier because of their hard and slick surface. The slats can be closed and wiped with a duster, they can then be rotated at 180 degrees and cleaned. Cleaning the curtains is more complicated. They need to be thoroughly washed or vacuumed.
Blinds last longer than 15 years if they are well-maintained. The material they are manufactured from, i.e. synthetic material, is resistant to staining and discolouration. They are more rugged and rigid than curtains. This makes it less prone to wear and tear. Contrarily, curtains will tear early and would require replacement.
